ISLAMABAD, July 5 (ABC): Iran’s military said it is using the current ceasefire to enhance its combat readiness, warning that any future aggression would trigger a swift and decisive response, Al Jazeera reported.
Brigadier-General Mohammad Akraminia said the pause in hostilities provides an opportunity to further strengthen the country’s armed forces.
“We will not waste a single moment or neglect this,” he said, adding that any “mistake” by Iran’s enemies would be met with a “crushing and decisive response” from the Iranian military.
The remarks come after weeks of conflict in which thousands of US and Israeli air strikes targeted military installations, energy facilities, and civilian infrastructure across Iran.
According to Iranian state media, the attacks, which followed the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on February 28, left more than 3,000 people dead.

‘People can be killed, but ideals cannot’: Iranian embassy rebukes Trump
Iranian embassy in Armenia criticised US President Donald Trump after comments he made about the funeral ceremonies of late Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
In a post on X, the embassy declared that “people can be killed, but ideals cannot”, adding that although Khamenei had been killed, his legacy would endure. It said: “You killed Ayatollah Khamenei, but in reality, you broke a perfume bottle whose scent spread everyplace.”
The embassy also directly attacked Trump, saying: “You don’t understand these things because you have neither civilisation, nor history, nor honour.” The remarks came in response to comments attributed to Trump about the funeral gathering.
Speaking to Axios, Trump said he was following Khamenei’s funeral and noted that those attending were gathered in one place. He added that the United States would not take action because it would otherwise have no one left with whom to negotiate.
Sisi urges swift implementation of Iran MoU
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has underscored the need for the swift implementation of both the Gaza ceasefire agreement signed in Sharm el-Sheikh last October and the US-Iran memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in Switzerland last month, Al Jazeera reported.
Sisi said any attempt to undermine both Gaza and the Iran ceasefire deal had to be prevented.
The Egyptian president revealed that his country had lost more than $10 billion in revenue from the Suez Canal as a result of Houthi attacks on vessels transiting the Bab al-Mandeb strait in the Red Sea.
Trump says Netanyahu ‘knows who the boss is’: Axios
Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu could visit the White House as early as next week, US President Donald Trump told Axios on Saturday, adding that the prime minister “knows who the boss is” in their relationship.
The possible meeting comes amid reports of tensions between the two leaders over efforts to end the war against Iran that the US and Israel started in late February.
“We get along very good. (Netanyahu) knows who the boss is,” Trump said in a brief phone interview with Axios, referring to himself.
An Israeli official told the US media outlet that next week might be too soon for the visit because Trump will be travelling to Turkey for a Nato summit on July 7-8.
“It might take place the week after,” the official told Axios.
