Huawei, NIBAF launch ICT Academy to strengthen Pakistan’s digital workforce

ISLAMABAD, July 8 (ABC): Huawei Pakistan and National Institute of Banking and Finance Pakistan (NIBAF) have launched the Huawei ICT Academy at NIBAF to help strengthen Pakistan’s digital workforce through internationally recognised information and communication technology (ICT) education and certification.
The academy will provide training in key technology areas, including Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, data communications, cybersecurity, big data and other emerging digital technologies. Participants will receive hands-on training based on Huawei’s global curriculum and have access to internationally accredited certification programmes.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by NIBAF officials, representatives from the financial sector, academia, industry leaders and technology experts.
Speaking at the event, NIBAF Pakistan Chief Executive Officer Lubna Farooq Malik said the academy would help prepare future-ready professionals by providing access to advanced technologies, globally recognised certifications and practical digital skills that are increasingly sought by employers in Pakistan and abroad.
She said the collaboration marked an important milestone in NIBAF’s efforts to support the country’s digital transformation and equip professionals for the evolving demands of the financial and technology sectors.
Addressing the ceremony, Huawei Pakistan’s CEO AI and Cloud Business Ahmed Bilal Masud said digital talent had become one of the most valuable assets for every country’s future.
He said the Huawei ICT Academy would create opportunities for professionals working in Pakistan’s financial sector to acquire globally competitive skills, enabling them to contribute to the country’s digital economy while enhancing their prospects in international markets.
He also reaffirmed Huawei’s long-term commitment to supporting Pakistan’s digital transformation through partnerships focused on innovation, knowledge transfer and technology leadership.
The Huawei ICT Academy is part of Huawei’s global education initiative, which partners with universities and professional institutions to bridge the gap between academia and industry. The programme offers curriculum support, instructor training, digital learning resources, laboratory platforms, certification opportunities and participation in international ICT competitions.
Huawei said thousands of students across Pakistan have already benefited from its nationwide ICT Academy Programme, university collaborations, faculty development initiatives, digital skills programmes and ICT competitions, with many graduates pursuing careers in technology, telecommunications, finance and digital services.
The company said the launch of the Huawei ICT Academy at NIBAF would further expand access to internationally benchmarked ICT education for professionals and learners, while supporting Pakistan’s broader digital transformation agenda by strengthening human capital, enhancing workforce competitiveness and fostering innovation.
