ISLAMABAD, Apr 23 (ABC): More than 67,000 young people across Pakistan have successfully completed training under the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme during 2024–25, as authorities scaled up nationwide efforts to enhance employability, expand digital capabilities, and reduce regional disparities through structured vocational initiatives, official documents revealed.
A total of 67,304 trainees graduated from the programme, out of 75,753 enrolled candidates against 77,216 allocated training seats, reflecting strong participation and high completion rates across the country, according to data available with Wealth Pakistan.
Provincial breakdown showed Punjab leading with 37,705 allocated seats and 36,995 enrolments, out of which 33,973 trainees completed the programme. Sindh followed with 11,795 seats, 11,299 enrolments, and 10,114 completions.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 7,969 seats were allocated, with 7,806 candidates enrolled and 6,891 completing the training. Balochistan recorded 6,252 allocated seats, 6,219 enrolments, and 5,978 successful trainees.
The Islamabad Capital Territory also demonstrated strong engagement, with 13,495 seats allocated, 13,434 candidates enrolled, and 10,348 completing the programme.
The documents further revealed that National Vocational and Technical Training Commission launched the Summer of Code 2025 initiative to strengthen digital skills, attracting 6,545 trainees nationwide.
Punjab again led with 3,314 participants, followed by Islamabad Capital Territory with 1,089, Sindh with 1,025, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 662, and Balochistan with 455 trainees.
Region specific figures indicated that Balochistan alone accounted for 13,103 allocated seats under multiple initiatives in 2025, including successive batches of the Prime Minister’s programme, the women-focused “She Fixes” initiative, and Summer of Code Batch-II.
Officials said the initiatives form part of a broader strategy to boost human capital, equip youth with market relevant skills, and address inequalities in access to training, underscoring the government’s focus on youth empowerment as a driver of sustainable economic growth.
