Shifa Foundation’s ‘NUR of Tomorrow’ Equips Youth With Skills for the Future

ISLAMABAD: Shifa Foundation has concluded the third cohort of its “NUR of Tomorrow” Youth Internship Programme, bringing together students from colleges and universities across Islamabad, Rawalpindi and nearby areas for training in life skills, emergency preparedness, mental health, digital safety and leadership.

The four-day programme was held at Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad and focused on practical skills considered increasingly important for education, employment and community participation.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Shifa Foundation Executive Director Dr Abdul Wahab Hassan said young people could begin contributing to positive change without waiting for the future.

“Young people do not need to wait for the future to make a difference; they can begin creating positive change today,” he said.

Training Focused on Safety, Leadership and Digital Skills

Participants received training in communication, teamwork, professionalism, civic responsibility and leadership through interactive sessions, demonstrations and group activities.

The programme also included practical instruction in first aid, CPR, fire safety, emergency preparedness and disaster response.

Sessions on mental health and well-being covered stress management, resilience and empathy, while digital literacy modules focused on cyber safety, online privacy, responsible use of artificial intelligence, workplace ethics and profile development.

Students also interacted with healthcare professionals, development practitioners, trainers and subject experts, giving them exposure to practical learning beyond the classroom.

Youth Encouraged to Take Part in Community Service

The programme coincided with International Youth Day 2026 and highlighted the role of young people in building healthier, safer and more inclusive communities.

As part of the initiative, Shifa Foundation also launched a youth-led tree plantation drive, encouraging participants to contribute to environmental responsibility, climate resilience and efforts toward a greener Pakistan.

Sheikh Younas, Director Programs at Shifa Foundation, thanked the participating students and acknowledged the trainers, facilitators, volunteers and organising teams involved in the programme.

Shifa Foundation said it would continue programmes aimed at youth empowerment, health and safety awareness, volunteerism and community service.
